OpenAI is adding text watermarking in ChatGPT and Codex

An invisible, machine-readable watermark in text output is rolling out to ChatGPT and Codex, but only for users in the European Union at first. OpenAI says its textGrain watermarking "matched or exceeded" other approaches like Google DeepMind's SynthID for text, which is also the basis for the watermarking Anthropic announced in August. Like OpenAI, Anthropic made the move to meet the requirements of the EU's AI Act; however, not everyone was happy to learn about the addition. OpenAI also included scores from AI benchmarks showing similar performance from watermarked and unwatermarked text. B...

ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude all went down at the same time

OpenAI's ChatGPT, xAI's Grok, and Anthropic's Claude are all experiencing issues. At around 11AM ET, ChatGPT started returning error messages for users trying to use the chatbot, with its status page saying there are currently "elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex." In addition to preventing users from having conversations with ChatGPT, the outage is also affecting logins, file uploads, voice mode, search, deep research, image generation, and more. OpenAI says it has "applied a mitigation" and is "monitoring recovery," though its AI tools are still experiencing "degraded performance." The...

ChatGPT’s Computer History tracks your clicks and keystrokes

ChatGPT's desktop app on macOS has a new feature called Computer History that turns your actions into training data, learning how you work, suggesting automations, and even picking up tasks you left half done. It uses your activity to build a timeline that ChatGPT and Codex can reference when you make a request. The feature is opt-in, rather than opt-out, and you can exclude certain apps and websites from Computer History, and you can delete entries if you want finer-grained control. Ari Weinstein, Product and Engineering manager at OpenAI, said on X that Computer History will automatically i...

alchemy-utils 0.1a0

Release: alchemy-utils 0.1a0 I've long pondered what a database agnostic version of my sqlite-utils Python library and CLI utility might look like. This morning (literally a shower project) I tasked Codex and GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra with building a prototype: Do a research spike to see what it would take to build a library with the same core API as SQLite-utils - in particular the insert and upsert and insert_all and upsert_all and create and update methods, and the table introspection stuff - but backed by SQLalchemy so it works for multiple database engines Test against PostgreSQL and SQLite and ...

Moonlight & Mayhem (Raccoon Heist by Codex + GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra)

Moonlight & Mayhem (Raccoon Heist by Codex + GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra) On Wednesday I wrote about One-shotting a Raccoon Heist game using Claude Fable 5 , where I had Claude Fable 5 build a full working game from a premise I generated with GPT-3 and DALL-E four years ago . I decided to pose the exact same prompt to Codex Desktop running GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra - the mode where Sol makes aggressive use of sub-agents - to see how it would do. It produced a much better game! Here's Moonlight & Mayhem - GitHub repository here , including the textures and prompts it generated using gpt-image-2 . Your browser d...
